About Us

How We Work

The focus at Nola Petites is to foster each child’s natural desire to learn. By using Montessori and Art children can use all senses when learning. Our teachers support the students as a guide rather than instructing children. This gives children a sense of agency in their learning. We achieve this by linking each child with activities and materials appropriate to their interests, needs, and developmental level.

The classrooms are carefully designed to allow movement and collaboration and encourage concentration and a sense of order. Unique learning materials beckon from accessible shelves, inviting small hands to take on new challenges, one concept or skill at a time.

Benefits of a Montessori Education

Each child is valued as a unique individual. Montessori education recognizes that children learn in different ways and at different paces. Children are therefore free to learn at their own pace, each advancing through the curriculum as they are ready, guided by the teacher and an individualized learning plan.

Montessori students develop order, coordination, concentration, and independence. Classroom design, materials, and daily routines support the children’s emerging “self-regulation” (ability to educate one’s self and to think about what one is learning), from an early age as toddlers through to adolescence.

Students are part of a close, caring community. The multi-age classroom—typically spanning 2-3 years—re-creates a family structure. Older children help out as mentors and role models; younger children feel supported and gain confidence about the challenges ahead. Teachers model respect, loving kindness, and a belief in peaceful conflict resolution.

Benefits of  Arts Inclusion

Arts is a learning vehicle as it helps with human development in every term of understanding and learning different concepts. It accesses the other parts of the human brain making it easier for people to make decisions and solve problems. Art education has different meanings to different people, it imparts knowledge in numerous fields such as music, theatre, visual arts, dance, and many more.

Art education is essential in the education system as it encourages engagement and creativity and helps one think outside the box. Studying arts not only helps in academic performance but also improves learning in subjects like sciences, math, or literature through visual formats instead of numbers or words.

By implementing all of these in a safe and welcoming environment our students are well-prepared for the next steps in their educational journey!
